In a post below, I mentioned my run in with the unfortunate during balloon fiesta. It wasn't all terrible though (other than I was sick the whole time, and had midterms that week). Here are a few pictures of Albuquerque's premier event, the International Balloon Fiesta.

The Balloonists Prayer:
The winds have welcomed you with softness, the sun has blessed you with its warm hands. You have flown so high and so well that god has joined you in your laughter, and set you gently back into the loving arms of mother earth. Cheers (after which we feel justified drinking champagne at 9:30 am).

Did you get to ride in a balloon? Its one of the most surreal experiences I have had. Its soooo quiet. We had a guy in our ward when I was 12 who was a janitor at the middle school and lived with his 6 kids in a trailer park. They clearly didn't have lot of extra money, but somehow he had a dream of being a balloon pilot and he bought a balloon and he had his license. He took us out flying once for scouts. It was amazing. I have yet to fly again, but I often think of the experience and anticipate doing it again some day.
Hey Reese. Thanks for the Fiesta pictures and all your comments. Much appreciated! I like the Templar article. And, who is Kdog anyway?
As for the balloonist prayer, very nice. Sounds just about right.
Shari,
We're getting enough hits these days that we're drawing traffic around the world...so I have no idea who Kdog is, though I suspect he has too much time on his hands. I've chosen to allow comments without first approving them. If we find that too much spam starts seeping through, I'll change it.
